CANDLE CARE

Burning Guide

The First Burn

Allow the wax pool to reach the edges of the vessel during the first burn. This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn throughout the life of the candle.

Avoid burning the candle for excessively long periods.

During the Burn

For best performance, burn your SOMBREN candle for approximately 2–4 hours at a time.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep the candle away from moving air, fans, open windows, and vents, which can cause an uneven flame or burn.

If the flame becomes unusually large, smoky, or unstable, extinguish the candle with a snuffer, allow it to cool completely, trim the wick appropriately, and relight.

Before Each Burn Afterwards

Always trim or gently pinch off the charred wood from the top of the wick before lighting it again.

For Wooden Wicks: Trim to approximately 1/8–3/16 inch and remove any loose charred wood from the top of the wick. This helps ensure a clean, steady burn and an audible crackle.

Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, children, pets, and flammable materials.

Wooden Wick Care

Wooden wicks behave differently from traditional cotton wicks.

A gentle crackling sound is normal and part of the experience.

If the wooden wick has difficulty staying lit, allow the wax to cool completely, remove excess char from the wick, and relight.

When to Stop Burning

Discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.

Continuing to burn the candle with too little wax can cause excessive heat to build in the container.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Use a candle snuffer when possible, or gently extinguish the flame without splashing hot wax.

Allow the candle to cool completely before handling, trimming the wick, or relighting.

The SOMBREN Ritual

Trim. Light. Let the room settle.

The goal is not just fragrance—it is atmosphere, presence, and a slower moment in the space around you.
